MAKING EARLY MORNING DROPPING OFF EASY FOR PARENTS

This article provides tips to make early morning dropping off to school easy for parents of pre-schoolers.

Sharing with parents do's and dont's of saying goodbye to the child and encourage him/her to spend a cheerful day at school. This further helps the child in settling down in the new school.

To begin with is a list of act which you should not do if you want the early morning dropping off to run smooth and hassle free:

DONTS

1.Do not sneak out- very often even the teachers would suggest you to sneak out while the child is looking away. It might seem to be an easy way out, but it puts a wrong impact on the child. The child feels betrayed and it saddens them.

2. Do not look scared or worried - when you look scared yourself, it gives a message to the child that something is wrong. Many times i have noticed that some children start making sad face when they look at their parents making same faces. Also these expressions by the parents can be manipulated by the children.

3. Do not look frustrated or behave indifferent - these are again negative emotions and not the best feelings to be displayed to children. Since these are difficult, complicated and dark emotions, it will tend to disturb the child and confuse them further.

DOs

1. Pre pare your kid before dropping off at school - while in the shower, dressing them up, even during the breakfast or while driving to school, continue to talk about the bright day ahead. Keep yourself well informed about the classroom activities in advance and talk about them to your child.

2. Wish them a proper goodbye - get out of your car, hand over your child's stuff to the care giver, smile and give a big hug to your child. Tell them that you love them.leave with a big smile and not a frown.

3. Talk about the lovely day ahead - Talk about the bright day ahead of you and him/her. Tell them that you are excited about starting your day at office and he/she should be excited to start the day at school.

4.Assure them about you coming back to pick them up - it is very important to tell them that you will be back once they are through with all the activities planned at the school. And that you can go back home and do nice things together such as reading favorite story book, play games, cook food etc.

With time the child will understand that he/she is supposed to be in school while you go for work and you both must enjoy the space you are in respectively. It is then that they will start shifting their attention towards new school and new friends

Share your best practices too in the comments below to encourage more parents. You can also post your queries and i would try to provide you with a helpful solution.
